SPOILER ALERT FOR DARK KNIGHT RISES
So basically I decided to draw a small lineup of Batman characters that would be in some made-up 4th film of the Nolan series.
Origin: After the events of the third film, Robin John Blake would take up the mantle but would have major modifications to his suit in order to fit his body and fighting style. He would spend the few months after the third film to train and modify his suit with the help of Alfred and Lucius. However, during this lull, the Dent Act is repealed and organized crime comes on the rise, which lures a particular villain out of the darkness. But this rise in crime calls forth another superhero who also wishes to follow in Batman’s footsteps although this new masked vigilante may prove to violent for Robin’s taste.
Design: Because Robin doesn’t have the brute force or martial arts training as Bruce Wayne did, I decided his new suit would be slimmer and more gadget oriented.
His personality also didn’t really remind me of any of the Robins. He’s a brawler cop who has a lot of street smarts. And this totally reminded me of Batman Beyond’s Terry McGinnis. It even works out better that way as John Blake is replacing Batman, rather than becoming his side kick.
So design-wise I ditched the cape and went with the bat wings from the Batman Beyond suit and I made the mask appear more bird like (a nod to “robin”). Other than that, I tried to emulate the Dark Knight costume used in the film (padded armor) as much as possible. I also added goggles, so that he wouldn’t have to put on eye shadow every time. And also, I’m pretty sure he can’t see in the dark, so goggles are a must.
Thoughts?
